BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Fourth-year head coach
Greg Owen's Mulerider Women's Tennis team is moving on. (4) Southern Arkansas dismissed (5) Henderson State on Friday afternoon in the first round of the Great American Conference Tournament Championship from Bentonville. It was the fourth postseason win for the Muleriders under Owen and the squad's first since 2019.
Friday's victory was the second for SAU (5-16) over the Reddies in a span of just over two weeks. Southern Arkansas handled HSU 6-1 on April 14 in Arkadelphia and the win in the opening round of the postseason was just as dominant.
The Muleriders used wins at doubles lines two and three to claim the first point of the afternoon.

Simone Simas teamed up to put away Erica Jagguernauth and Tirzah Bailey 7-5 at No. 2.
Sarah Roy and
Serena Gill cruised by Vinda Teally and Danna Nunze 6-1 at No. 3.
In singles play, the bottom three in Owen's lineup made quick work of Henderson State. Simas beat Bailey 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, Gill topped Teally 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 and
Kalley Smith eased by Nunze 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 as the Muleriders advanced to Saturday's semifinal matchup against top-seeded Harding at 1 p.m.
