Jason Anderson's 300
th win at Southern Arkansas University was a good one, as his team put on a great two out hitting clinic to sweep East Central University on Sunday afternoon by a score of 8-3. The Muleriders are now 18-11, 11-3 GAC and have won six straight games, including last weekend's sweep over Ouachita Baptist.
Trailing 3-2 entering the bottom of the second inning, the Muleriders were able to post five runs with two outs to take the 7-3 advantage.
Alese Casper got the rally started with a single through the left side, followed by a
Jaxynn Dyson double that advanced Casper to third.
Gracie King was able to reach first base to load the bases after she was hit by a pitch.
Madison Miller collected an easy RBI as she watched four balls to take first to tie the game 3-3.
Tiare Lee's big weekend would continue as she singled down the left field line and drove in King and Dyson to collect two RBI and push the score to 5-3.
Taylor Murphy kept the big inning alive as she hit a double deep down the left field line to score Lee and M. Miller to push SAU's lead to 7-3. The Muleriders were able to plate one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning as Dyson hit her second home run of the season, this time a solo shot to push the score to 8-3 in favor of SAU.
Casper, Dyson, and Lee all collected two hits, while King and Murphy both finished with one apiece. Casper and Dyson both had two runs, while Lee, King and Murphy all collected two RBI.
Baylie Thornhill picked up her first win in a Mulerider uniform as the senior transfer pitched a complete game and only allowed three runs (one earned). Thornhill struck out five batters and only allowed one walk in the victory.
The Muleriders make a trip to the Sooner State next weekend as they are set to travel to Durant, Okla. to take on Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The series will get underway on Friday afternoon with a single game at 3:00 p.m. followed by a double-header on Saturday afternoon that is set to start at 12:00 p.m.
