MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Behind four double-figure scorers which led a box score that saw all 15 players score, the team's third 20+ plus assist output of the season and 40 points off of turnovers, Southern Arkansas jetted past Arkansas Baptist 112-74 in nonconference action on Wednesday night to the tune of the squad's fourth 100-point scoring performance which saw the Muleriders finish four points shy of setting a new single-game scoring record. th win at the NCAA level and the victory stands as his 40
th on the sidelines at Southern Arkansas.
Addy Tremie led all scorers with 16 point of which a dozen came from beyond-the-arc as the first-year Mulerider sank four of SAU's 16 made shots from deep. It marked the sixth time this season and the third-straight game that the Muleriders made at least a dozen three-point attempts and the fourth time this campaign that the team has reached 16 in the statistic.
Tremie grabbed five rebounds and collected two steals.
Diamond Morris showcased an efficient night shooting with a 6-for-8 effort that resulted in 15 points which went along with five assists, four steals and three rebounds. Morris' five dimes and
Marlee Bright's five helpers highlighted a 24-assist night by the Muleriders.
Jessica Jones and Rylee Stanford combined for 23 points off of the bench.
Brooklin Brown secured a team-leading seven rebounds and Jones followed with six.
Southern Arkansas shot 44% from the floor, attempted at least 40 three-point shots for the fourth time this season and posted its second-best free-throw shooting clip of the campaign at 76.9%; its best mark in games with more than 25 attempts.
The Muleriders led by eight after one quarter of play in large part to outscoring ABC 13-0 in points off of turnovers. The lead grew to 52-35 at the intermission and a 36-point third quarter pushed SAU out front and in control.
Braydyn Hill delivered an and-1 bucket less than 70 seconds out of the halftime break. Two and a half minutes later, Morris jumped in on the old fashion three-point play act as she converted to put SAU up 24 points with 5:53 remaining.
From that point, SAU then relied on the three for some timely, energetic buckets.
Mychala Linzy knocked down a transition triple try on an assist from Bright following a steal by Tremie to put the Muleriders up 68-4. Jones hit a three-point bucket moments later on a dime from
Chloe Wilbanks following a line change and in the final two minutes, Tremie connected again as Linzy quickly dished cleared a missed free throw attempt back out to the perimeter as the make pushed SAU out front by 31.
The Muleriders' attention turns to Saturday for the final Great American Conference matchup of the calendar year. SAU welcomes in Arkansas Tech for a 1 p.m. tip-off inside the W.T. Watson Center.
