Muleriders return home for rivalry week; Set to host UAM & HU

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Rivalry week in the Great American Conference is here, and the (7-6, 2-5 GAC) Southern Arkansas University women's basketball team will welcome in their rivals from Arkansas-Monticello (0-14, 0-8 GAC) into the W.T. Watson Athletic Center on Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. SAU will host Harding University on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.

Despite dropping their last four contests, head coach Adam Collins's team still finds themselves as the nation's No. 2 ranked scoring offense among the NCAA DII ranks with 88.2 ppg. SAU has outscored their opponents 1147-1079 and have a scoring margin of +5.2.

The Mulerider offense has relied heavily on Kisi Young (74-of-131, .56%) this year as she leads the team with 14.3 ppg. Diamond Morris has played well in recent games as she has finished in double-figures in her last three outings, and nine times on the year to give her an average of 11.1 ppg. Ariana Guinn is also averaging 11.1 ppg for SAU, while Mychala Linzy is averaging 10.3 ppg, followed by Kenzie Ezekiel (10.2).

SAU has five different players with 14+ made three pointers made this season. Ezekiel leads the team (25-of-72, .34%) followed by Jessica Jones (20-of-56, .35%). Kylie Warren has connected on 19-of-74 attempts for .25%, while Diamond Morris has knocked down 17-of-59 for .28%. Linzy (14-of-29) has started to heat up from behind the arc since her return from injury as she is shooting .48%.

Young leads the team with 7.6 Reb/G and has pulled down 99 on the year, including 45 on offense. Kylie Warren has pulled down 59 boards (4.5 Reb/G), followed by Lillie Moore with 50 (4.2 Reb/G). Guinn leads the Muleriders with 2.9 assists per game, while Young is dishing out 2.2 assists per game.

The Blossoms come into Thursday night's rivalry game with no wins on the season and have been outscored 1142-806 by their opponents. UAM is averaging 57.6 ppg. Their closest game of the season came against Arkansas Tech as they fell 72-66. The Blossoms have been led by Taylor Flores (16.1 ppg) and Bailey Harris (9.6 ppg).

Harding will take on Arkansas Tech on Thursday before traveling to Magnolia for Saturday's contest. As it stands now, the Bisons are currently (8-5, 4-4 GAC). HU is averaging 72.8 ppg and they have been led by Sage Hawley (17.9 ppg), Hannah Collins (14.9 ppg), and Jacie Evans (10.4 ppg). This will be the second matchup of the season between SAU and HU, as the Bisons took down the Muleriders 93-90 back on December 2nd.
