RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Sophomore Ole Valkyser earned a Flight 2 Singles title this past weekend at the Great American Conference Individual Championships in addition to teaming up with junior Marko Nikoliuk to claim victory at Flight 1 Doubles, while the doubles team of junior Iker Brull and sophomore Gabriel Breitenmoser won at Flight 2 Doubles to highlight the SAU Men's performances this past weekend in Russellville.
 
Valkyser defeated Southeastern Oklahoma's Diego Orduz, Ouachita's Alex Blanchar and Ouachita's Fernando Docters on his way to picking up the third singles flight title for the program since its rebirth for the 2018 campaign.
 
Valkyser and Nikoliuk topped Dos Santos/Jurkovic of Southeastern Oklahoma and Fuerschuss/Docters of Ouachita before battling down Southeastern Oklahoma's Pilotto/Ncube to earn the doubles flight victory. The duo of Brull and Breitenmoser edged Ouachita's Blanchar/Parzajuk, defeated Southeastern Oklahoma's Del Rosario/Orduz on their way to defeating teammates Yuri Gondouin and Matthew Tennant in a hard fought match by both sides in the finals.
 
The two doubles wins mark the second and third GAC doubles titles that have been won by the Muleriders since '18.
 
Senior Sander Jans (Flight 1), junior Sofiane Bah (Flight 3) and freshman Matthew Tennant (Flight 4) all advanced to the singles final of their respective flights. Nikoliuk claimed the consolation bracket of Flight 1, while Breitenmoser won the Flight 3 consolation.
 
The Muleriders won 13 singles matches and ten doubles matches over the weekend.
 
SAU returns to action this weekend for the ITA Regional Championships in Edmond, Oklahoma, on Friday, October 1 through Sunday, October 3.
