MAGNOLIA – The SAU Volleyball team hits the court again this week, and for the only time in this shortened spring schedule, they will play twice this week.
Tuesday sees the Muleriders visit Arkadelphia to take on Ouachita Baptist. The Tigers are 2-4 on the season with a win over Henderson State in addition to their 3-2 win over the Muleriders in Magnolia back on February 2
nd.
In that game,
Morgan Gross notched a game-high 19 kills, with freshmen
Victoria White and
Landry Rogers recording 13 and 11 kills, respectively.
For the Tigers, Lexie Castillow recorded 39 digs en route to being named GAC Defensive Player of the Week. On the season, Castillow averages 6.74 digs per set.
The Muleriders will then host Arkansas Tech on Thursday. The Golden Suns and the Muleriders face off for the first time this season, and the Suns enter this week as the 17
th-ranked team in the latest AVCA poll.
The Muleriders are currently on an eight-match losing streak versus Arkansas Tech dating back to the 2016 season, with all eight results being 3-0 in favor of the Suns.
Addison Masters, Rilie Vote and Mackenzie Eford all have over 40 kills this season for the Suns.
On the season, Gross leads the Muleriders with 74 kills, while
Morgan Schuster averages 10.25 assists per set, second-best in the conference.
Defensively,
Bailey Kirk and
Brianna Nipper have split time at libero this season, with both averaging 3.05 digs per set.
