MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas Men's and Women's Tennis teams are back in action this weekend as both of head coach
Greg Owen's squads will play four matches, two each on Friday and Saturday, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Results of all of the weekend's action will be available at
www.MuleriderAthletics.com.
The Mulerider Men, ranked No. 25 nationally, will play UT-Tyler (9 a.m.) and Southwest Baptist (3 p.m.) on Friday, before battling (RV) Cameron (9 a.m.) and #22 Midwestern State (3 p.m.) on Saturday. For the SAU Women, UT-Tyler (9 a.m.) and #14 Southwest Baptist (3 p.m.) await on Friday and Saturday's action will see the Muleriders compete against Cameron (9 a.m.) and #16 Midwestern State (3 p.m.).

The SAU Men enter the weekend at 3-1 overall with wins over Southwest Baptist (6-1), Ouachita Baptist (5-2) and Harding (6-1). The team's lone loss this season came in a 4-3 decision to #19 Delta State.
The Muleriders have been led this spring by junior newcomer
Sander Jans who owns a 4-0 singles record with all four victories coming in straight sets at line two and by collegiate rookie
Ole Lukas Valkyser who is also unbeaten in four singles matches this spring.
Sophomores
Sofiane Bah and
Marko Nikoliuk are both 3-1 on the season in singles play.
In doubles action, the teams of
Yuri Gondouin / Nikoliuk and Valkyser /
Gabriel Breitenmoser are both 4-0 on the young season. Southern Arkansas has not dropped a doubles point all season and has suffered just two losses in a combined dozen lines of play.
After a 7-0 win over Ouachita in the season opener, the Mulerider Women have dropped their last three matches: 4-3 at Henderson State, 5-2 vs. #13 Angelo State, and 5-2 vs. Harding.
In singles play, freshman newcomer
Honoka Yoshimura is unbeaten at 4-0, including three set victories over Ouachita and Henderson State at line four in her collegiate debut. Sophomore
Serena Gill owns a 3-1 singles record this season. The pair is currently 2-2 as a doubles team.
In additional doubles play, freshmen
Kalley Smith and
Sarah Roy have won twice as partners and each player has claimed an additional doubles win against Ouachita with Smith teaming up with rookie
Haylie Hunger at No. 3 and Roy partnering with sophomore
Angela Vargas at No. 1.
