HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Sophomore
Mackenzy Turner fired a career-low 71 (-1) during the second round of Monday's HSU Spring Invite from the Hot Springs Country Club to keep the Mulerider Women in sixth place through 36 holes and just ten strokes from outside the tournament's top five. Turner's second time through the course saw the Georgetown, Texas, native shoot under par for the first time in her Mulerider career as her one-under was the best round two score and second-best score through two rounds among 45 golfers.
Turner's previous career-low was a 74 which she carded on three separate occasions with the last coming in the first round of the 2019 Central Region Fall Preview. She currently sits at 152 (+8) for the tournament and tied for seventh place; six strokes back of individual leader Katie Whitfield of Arkansas Tech (146 (+2)).
On Monday, Turner and Whitfield both recorded six birdies and shot +2 on par-4 scoring to lead the tournament field in each statistic. Turner made par on 18 holes and went one-under on par-5 scoring.

Chelsea Chow is currently tied for 24
th after carding rounds of 80 and 82. She went even on par-3 scoring and ended the 36-hole day at +2 in par-5 scoring. Chow carded two birdies on Monday.

Taylor Rich is a single stroke back of Chow with a 163 after carding a collegiate-best 77 during her first trip around the course on Monday. Aiding her effort was a +2 result in par-3 scoring and two birdies.

Corynn McKinnie, who is competing as an individual this week, dropped eight strokes from her round one 91 to card an 83. The 83 is also a career-low effort for the freshman and marks the second time in her young career that she has dropped below 90.

Klarissa Villanueva carded a 187.
As a team, the Mulerider Women shot a 322 in round one and added three strokes in round two to card a collective 647 (+71). That two-round team total is tied for the tenth-best result for the Mulerider Women in the program's Golfstat Era. SAU is eight strokes back of fifth-place Missouri Western and 13 strokes back of Oklahoma Baptist and Arkansas-Monticello for third place.
