ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas Men's and Women's Tennis teams were in action on Saturday in Arkadelphia as the Muleriders played Harding inside Ouachita's Ward Tennis Center. In the men's action, it was #25 SAU that knocked down the (RV) Bison 6-1 in nonconference action, while the (RV) Mulerider Women suffered a 5-2 defeat to the (RV) Lady Bisons. Both teams are back in action on Friday, March 5 in Wichita Falls for an early 9 a.m. matchup with UT-Tyler.
The Mulerider Men took the doubles point as the teams of
Sander Jans/
Sofiane Bah,
Yuri Gondouin/
Marko Nikoliuk, and
Ole Lukas Valkyser/
Gabriel Breitenmoser all won at their respective lines. Nikoliuk, Jans, Valkyser and Bah all picked up straight sets victories in singles play, while Breitenmoser won a three set battle at No. 5. Gondouin fell at line one in a hard fought match against HU's Dani Ortiz.
On the women's side, the doubles team of
Kalley Smith and
Sarah Roy were the lone winners of their match at No.2.
Lena Milosevic defeated Lina Romero 7-6, 7-5 at No. 2 and
Honoka Yoshimura topped Emily Carpenter 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 in a tightly played match at No.5.
