Muleriders set to take on RSU in afternoon road contest

MAGNOLIA, ARK. – Looking to start the season 3-0 for the first time since the 2019-2020 season, the Southern Arkansas University women's basketball will look to do just that as they are set to take on Rogers State University this Saturday in Claremore. SAU is currently 3-0 against RSU all time, with their last win coming in a 74-49 victory in December of 2019.

The 2-0 Muleriders will take on a 2-1 Hillcat squad that is coming off of a 101-32 win over Bacone College. RSU started their season going 1-1 in the MIAA/NSIC Challenge with an 85-63 win over Minnesota-Moorhead followed by an 82-74 loss to Northern State University. Through three games RSU is averaging 86.7 ppg as a team, while Julie Luna (14.7 ppg) and Bailey Kliewer (13.7 ppg) have led the Hillcat offense.

SAU started their season with two big wins in the GAC/MIAA Challenge as they took down Lincoln University of Missouri 96-63 and Upper Iowa University 102-96. The Muleriders currently have four players that average double-digit scoring through the first two contests. Kylie Warren (14.5 ppg), Diamond Morris (14.0 ppg), Kenzie Ezekiel (13 ppg) and Jerrica Bell (12) have been leading the SAU offense thus far. Kisi Young leads the Muleriders with 12 rebounds, followed by Ezekiel (8) and Doriana Brown (7).

SAU is currently tied for 5th best in NCAA Division II with 99.0 points per game. The Muleriders continues to uphold and advertise their chaotic defensive play as they are tied for 4th in NCAA DII with 35.0 turnovers forced per game. Ezekiel leads the squad with seven steals followed by Bell with six.

The Muleriders have connected on 24-62 shots from behind the arc and have three players with 5+ made three pointers. Ezekiel and Warren have both connected on six threes while Morris has knocked down five.
