Commerce, Texas – The SAU Softball team made a huge statement today in East Texas with a 6-4 win over #10 Texas A&M-Commerce powered by the offensive efforts of senior
Elisa Favela.
The Ewa Beach native went 3-4 from the plate with all three of her hits going for extra bases. Solo homeruns in the second and sixth innings sandwiched a two-RBI double in the third inning.
An RBI double by
Laina Suesue and a sacrifice fly by
Christina Hill supplemented Favela's exploits at the plate as the Muleriders notched their second victory of the season over a ranked opponent.
Victoria Taylor picked up her second win of the season with five innings in the circle, striking out eight and only walking three.
Sydney Wader, pitching in relief for the second day in a row, picked up her first save of the season with two shutout innings, only allowing one hit.
In addition to Favela, Suesue and Hill both recorded multi-hit games. The trio was responsible for seven of the eight Mulerider hits, with
Maeson Grace claiming the other hit.
The Muleriders are now 5-1 on the season. They close their time in East Texas tomorrow in Tyler with a doubleheader against Texas Woman's and UT-Tyler.
