Muleriders end regular season on high note with 30-point win over Bison

Jerica Bell records first career double-double

Shawnee, Okla. – The SAU Women's Basketball team ended their longest losing streak of the season, three games, with a 93-63 victory over Oklahoma Baptist on the final day of regular season play.

The hosts took the lead with 8:46 left in the first quarter with the first points of the game. A Camryn Fennell layup on the other end tied the game and just over a minute later, a layup by Ariana Guinn would give the Muleriders a 4-2 lead, a lead they would hold for the rest of the contest.

The Muleriders shot 45.3 percent from the field on the day, going 8-26 from three and 7-11 from the free throw line.
The visitors forced the Bison into 28 turnovers, leading to 31 points off turnovers. The Muleriders also out-rebounded the Bison 53-33.

Jerica Bell led the effort on the glass, recording a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

The sophomore went 5-10 from the field in 17 minutes off the bench.

Kylie Warren led all scorers with 17 points in 16 minutes. The sophomore went 6-11 from the field, including 2-6 from three and making all three of her free throw attempts.

Warren also grabbed four rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal.

Diamond Morris and Tamera Shaver also scored in double figures, with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Morris went 6-9 from the field and Shaver went 3-7 from three; she also grabbed three rebounds, dished four assists and grabbed two steals.

Kisi Young came just short of a double-double of her own. The Magnolia native went for nine points and rebounds; and Maggie Evans grabbed a game-high five steals.

The win sees the Muleriders finish 17-11 on the season and 11-11 in conference play. Their 17 wins is the third-most in the Division II era.

They will face regular-season champions Southeastern Oklahoma at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
