MAGNOLIA, Ark. – After a two week layover, the Southern Arkansas Men's Tennis team is back in action on Saturday as they travel to Arkadelphia for a 1 p.m. match with Mississippi College on the campus of Ouachita Baptist. The Muleriders, which are ranked No. 25 in ITA Division II Men's Top 25 Poll, head back to Clark County hoping for a different result against their second Magnolia State opponent in as many matches. Southern Arkansas (1-1) enters the weekend against the Choctaws ranked second in the Central Region, but suffered a defeat to South Region No. 10 Delta State two weekends ago in Arkadelphia. Mississippi College (1-1) is coming off its first win of the season; a 4-3 victory in New Orleans over Loyola (LA).
SAU's Alexandre Machaj is 2-0 in singles play this season with victories over UT-Tyler's Jonas Dixon (6-1, 7-5) and Delta State's Trey Seymour (6-2, 6-4). The Mulerider doubles team of Stuart Rehfuss and Yuri Gondouin are also 2-0 with wins over UT-Tyler's Michael Apple/Jorge Sala (6-4) and Delta State's Mason Vice/Hugo Stroppiana-Pillon (6-1).
No. 15 Marko Nikoliuk enters Saturday looking for his first singles win of the season after falling to No. 36 Stroppiana-Pillon 6-2, 6-1 two weekends ago vs. Delta State.
In the Choctaws' first win of the season, Francois Le Tallec, Maksym Konovolav, and Carlos Trujillo all picked up singles wins.
Since the start of last season, the Muleriders are 9-6 in neutral site matches.
