MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas Women's Tennis team opened its 2020 season on Friday afternoon against UT-Tyler at the Live Oaks Tennis Courts and the Muleriders had no problem with the Patriots topping their Lone Star Conference foe 7-0 for the program's 11
th-consecutive win at home. SAU returns to action on Tuesday, February 11 at 3 p.m. vs. Texas A&M-Texarkana in Magnolia.
The doubles team of
Joanna Nowakowska and
Angela Vargas, ranked No. 42 in Division II, picked up the afternoon's first point with a big win (7-6 (5)) against UT-Tyler's Akshaya Suresh and Brooke Brewer. A trio of Mulerider women won their first matches in the Blue & Gold on Friday as freshmen
Sarah Roy,
Anaelle Lepinay, and
Giada Zorzan each won at their respective lines with Roy battling back from a set one loss and Zorzan claiming victory on line six after dropping set two.
