MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The postseason accolades for soon-to-be redshirt senior defensive tackle Antonio Washington continue to roll in as it was announced by D2Football.com that SAU Football's defensive stalwart was named to the outlet's Honorable Mention All-America team. Additionally, the Marshall, Texas, native was tabbed as a one of 35 Division II Finalists for the 2019 Cliff Harris Award; an annual recognition of the small college (DII, DIII, NAIA) defensive player of the year.

Washington, who was also named to the AFCA All-America Second Team as well as to the D2CCA All-Super Region 3 Second Team, will enter his senior season as a two-time All-GAC First Team selection after receiving the honor this past fall.

Washington's 2019 season saw the fearsome defender continue his knack for living in opponent's backfields as his impact on the Mulerider defensive front was immense. In 12 games, Washington recorded the third-most tackles on the team with 60 total stops (30 solo, 30 ast) and posted the third-most tackles for loss in the GAC at 13.5, including three sacks. In three years, Washington has totaled 31.0 tackles for loss totaling 114 yards.

Additionally, Washington added seven quarterback hurries, three pass breakups and recovered two fumbles. Washington recorded six or more tackles in six games this season and posted two games with at least 3.0 tackles for loss including a career-best effort of 3.5 TFL in a home victory over Oklahoma Baptist.
