MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Junior
Trey Davis delivered a career-high 20 points and three other Muleriders scored in double figures, but Southwestern Oklahoma edged Southern Arkansas 72-67 in Great American Conference action from inside the W.T. Watson Center on Saturday afternoon.
For the second-straight game, the Muleriders rallied late in the first half as they face a 30-24 deficit with 3:35 remaining, before closing the half on an 11-0 run to take a 35-30 lead into the intermission. The contest featured 15 lead changes and six tied scores. The largest lead for either team in the second half was eight points and it was reached by the Muleriders both times before the under-8 media timeout.
Davis' career-high scoring output came on 6-of-8 shooting overall with a 5-of-6 effort from three-point range. He added five rebounds and two assists. Classmate
Aaron Lucas followed with 15 points and produced five assists and four steals. Sophomore
Jalen Brooks added 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds and junior
Devante Brooks chipped in with 11 points.
The Muleriders hit the road next weekend for a pair of Great American Conference games in Oklahoma. On Thursday, January 9, the Muleriders tipoff at 7 p.m. against East Central from inside the Kerr Activities Center.
