The SAU Volleyball team opens the 2019 season this weekend in Canyon, Texas as they take part in the BritKare Lady Buff Classic hosted by West Texas A&M. The Muleriders, who went 8-21 last season, face three teams who went a combined 50-43 last season, good enough for a .538 winning percentage. 

TUSKEGEE
They start on Friday afternoon against Tuskegee, with the Golden Tigers going 17-15 last season. The Tigers return nine of 13 athletes from last year's squad, who made a run to the quarterfinals of the SIAC Tournament. This will mark the first time the Muleriders and the Golden Tigers have faced off.

WEST TEXAS A&M 
To wrap up day one of competition, the Muleriders will take on the hosts, West Texas A&M. The Lady Buffs went 19-13 last season and are a tough opponent at their home arena, known as "The Box." Since 1980, the Lady Buffs are 479-79 with a 85.8 winning percentage at home. Their matchup will mark the first time these two teams have faced off. 

ST. MARY'S
The Muleriders will close their time in Canyon with a Saturday morning matchup against the Rattlers from St. Mary's. The Rattlers went 14-15 last season, and have won both of their previous matchups against the Muleriders, winning 3-0 in 2012 and 3-1 in 2014.

The West Texas A&M Athletic Communications Department will provide live stats and a pay-per-view webstream of all matches during the BritKare Lady Buff Classic. Fans can purchase a $5 single-day pass.
