DeMarcus Pegue put Saturday's Great American Conference affair against Arkansas Tech on ice, while redshirt freshman
Kor'Davion Washington's 11-yard touchdown run capped an impressive evening for a Southern Arkansas Football team in need of bouncing back. The Muleriders topped the Wonder Boys 35-14 from Thone Stadium to improve to 3-1 on the season.
It is the first win for the Muleriders in Russellville since the 2007 season and the ninth win for the program on the road against ATU since 1970. Additionally, the Muleriders are the first road team to win in the series in a dozen years.
Jones finished with 42 yards on seven carries with two touchdowns, while Washington recorded a career night with 154 yards on 19 carries and two scores. The Muleriders punched in three touchdowns in the game's final 6:17 to pick up the pivotal road victory.
Southern Arkansas struck first on Saturday night as the Muleriders used an 8-play, 68-yard drive in 5:14 which ended in redshirt senior
SirCharles Perkins scoring from 11-yards out. The drive came after the Mulerider defense forced an early three-and-out on the Wonder Boys' first offensive possession of the game.
Late in the second quarter, Tech answered with a six-play, 48-yard drive following a Mulerider turnover that tied the game at 7 heading into the intermission.
SAU took advantage early in the second half as Jones rushed in from two-yards out to give the Muleriders a 14-7 lead following the 2:47 drive to start the third quarter. Tech responded early in the fourth quarter as a one-yard rush from Wallace Foote tied the game with 11:33 remaining.
On the ensuing drive, Southern Arkansas manufactured a 10-play, 63-yard drive that took 5:16 and resulted in the Muleriders taking a 21-14 lead with 6:17 to play.
Tech's next drive appeared to be destined to tie the game up at 21, but an interception by junior
La'Vonte White set up Jones' aforementioned second rushing touchdown of the night. Following that score, Pegue picked off a pass which resulted in Washington finding the end zone moments later.
The Muleriders finished with 351 yards of total offense on 70 plays and were a perfect 5-for-5 on redzone opportunities, while holding the football for 32:09.

Brock Floyd led the defense with eight total tackles, a pass breakup and a forced fumble. Senior
Lorenzo Watkins added seven tackles with an interception and Pegue followed with seven stops and a pick as well. Redshirt junior
Antonio Washington recorded six tackles, three tackles for loss including two sacks and a pair of quarterback hurries.
