Enid, Okla. – The SAU Baseball team dropped their GAC Conference Tournament opener on Saturday, losing 8-2 to fifth-seeded Oklahoma Baptist in a rematch of last year's tournament championship.

The Muleriders took an early lead in the bottom of the second inning through a Cooper King home run to left field.

The Bison responded with three run in the top of the next inning, aided by two Mulerider errors to take a lead they did not relinquish.

Austin Baker reached base four times, a pair of singles as well as a pair of walks, as Baker, Koenigseder and Dakota Wright were the only Muleriders to reach base more than once.

The Muleriders pulled a run back in the bottom of the third through a Brett McGee sacrifice fly that scored Baker; however, the Muleriders were not able to get any closer as the Bison pushed across a run in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings; as well as two runs in the ninth.

Hunter Brantley started this game on the bump and lasted 5.2 innings, allowing six hits and five runs (four earned) as the sophomore southpaw took his fifth loss of the season. Nathan Stubber threw the final 3.1 innings in relief, allowing one hit and one run.

The Muleriders are now 29-19 on the season; they face Harding tomorrow at 12:30 in an elimination game at the GAC Tournament.
