Evans, quality pitching leads #19 SAU Softball over Reddies

Magnolia, Ark. – The SAU Softball team took both games of today's doubleheader against Henderson State, winning both games by one run margins as the Muleriders close out their regular season tomorrow.

Game one saw freshman Sarah Evans lead off the scoring with her 11th home run of the season and her first at Dawson Field. The shortstop drove in the Muleriders' next run in the third inning, scoring Laina Suesue on an opposite field single. The catcher, batting leadoff once again, went 2-5 on the day as Evans went 3-5 with two of the team's three RBIs on the day.

Suesue knocked in the only run of game two, an RBI single to score Rachel Miller.

Sydney Wader and Victoria Taylor both threw complete games for the Muleriders, with Wader giving up the lone run as she allowed four hits while striking out seven in game one. Taylor threw her sixth shutout of the season, striking out eight while allowing only five hits.

The Muleriders are 43-10 on the season and 34-7 in conference play; they close out the season tomorrow against the Reddies.
