ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – In its first season of NCAA competition since 2011-12, the Southern Arkansas Women's Tennis reached its first program milestone since the reboot as the #23 Lady Muleriders used a pair of dominant wins over Ouachita and Henderson State in Great American Conference action on Wednesday in Arkadelphia to claim the league's regular season championship. SAU put away both the Tigers and Reddies 7-0 to improve to 22-4 overall in 2019 with an unblemished 6-0 mark in GAC play.
 
The win gives SAU the top seed for the 2019 GAC Tennis Tournament Championship which begins Thursday, April 25. The last championship of any type for the Lady Mulerider Tennis team came in 1973 as that year's team finished as runner-up in the Arkansas Women's Intercollegiate Sports Association (AWISA). The team also won an AWISA Singles Championship that season as well.
 
The Lady Muleriders were perfect in singles competition on Wednesday as the squad did not lose any of its 12 matchups. In doubles action, only one of the six competitions went the way of the opponent.
