Magnolia, Ark. -Â The SAU Baseball team is back in action this weekend as they host Oklahoma Baptist on Sunday and Monday in a three-game conference series. The Muleriders are coming off a two-game weekend sweep of Southeastern Oklahoma State and a midweek loss to #14 Delta State.
The Bison are 18-11 on the season and 12-6 in conference play. They are winners of four of their last five games, with midweek wins over East Central and Southwestern Oklahoma State and taking two of three from Arkansas Tech in Russellville. The Bison have series wins over Ouachita, Arkansas Tech, Harding, Henderson State and Northwestern Oklahoma State this season. The Bison are hitting .288 from the plate this season, with a .396 on-base percentage and a .480 slugging percentage. The Bison, who have nine players who have started 27 or more of 29 games this season, have 102 extra-base hits and 252 strikeouts compared to 145 walks. The Bison offensive effort is led by PJ Harris, who is batting .368 on the season with five doubles, six home runs and 26 RBIs. Harris has also drawn a team-high 24 walks, and owns a team-high .504 on-base percentage. The Bison pitching staff owns a 5.12 ERA on the season, striking out 205 batters and allowing 160 walks and 206 hits in 241.0 innings. Opponents are only hitting .230 against the Bison pitching staff, which is led by Jake Lipetzky. Lipetzky owns a 3.35 ERA in eight appearances and seven starts. He has 42 strikeouts and 33 walks in 37.2 innings this season while only allowing 19 hits. Opponents are only hitting .152 against him. After this weekend, the Bison face Oklahoma Christian midweek fore taking on Southwestern Oklahoma State in a three-game series.Â
The Muleriders are 19-10 on the season and 14-3 in conference play. The Mulerider offense has scored 191 runs in 28 games, batting .272 with 84 extra-base hits on the season. The Muleriders are reaching base at a .373 mark and are slugging .420. The offensive leader this season has been junior
Austin Baker, who has started all 28 games this season and is hitting .391 with six doubles and a team-high 19 stolen bases on the season. Baker also owns a team-high .455 on-base percentage. The Mulerider pitching staff owns a slightly better ERA than the Bison, at 5.11. Opponents are batting .275 against the Muleriders, who have 219 strikeouts in 236 innings pitched.
Nathan Stubber leads the team in appearances with 12 and ERA among qualified pitchers with a 3.94 mark.Â
After this weekend, the Muleriders host Arkansas Tech in a midweek game before traveling to Bethany to take on Southern Nazarene in a three-game conference series.Â
