#5 Muleriders host Savage Storm in conference series

Magnolia, Ark. - The SAU Softball team, for the second time this season, will host a conference series as they welcome Southeastern Oklahoma State into Magnolia for a four-game set.

The Savage Storm are 10-16 on the season and 8-8 in conference play. They are coming off a weekend split against Arkansas-Monticello, having also taken three of four from Southwestern Oklahoma State and a split from Arkansas Tech. The Savage Storm's offense is batting .284 on the season, averaging 3.7 runs per game. The Savage Storm have hit nine home runs on the season and fifty total extra base hits, slugging .388 while reaching base at a .358 clip. The offensive effort is led by Elexis Watson, who is batting .346 on the season with team highs in hits, runs, doubles, home runs, total bases, slugging and on-base percentage. The Savage Storm pitching staff holds a 6.12 ERA on the season, striking out 95 batters in 161.1 innings as opponents hit .324 against the Savage Storm. All five pitchers who have featured for the Savage Storm this season have also started in the field/lineup for the Savage Storm, with Emily Cudd and Destiny Riddle making ten starts each in the circle and Cudd making two starts in the lineup while Riddle has started every single game for the Savage Storm. After this weekend, the Savage Storm take on East Central in a midweek doubleheader before hosting Ouachita in a four-game series.

The Muleriders are 22-6 on the season and 13-3 in conference play, and are the fifth-ranked team in the country. The Muleriders are coming off a sweep of East Central that saw Sarah Evans win GAC Freshman of the Week as she hit a triple and two home runs in 11 at-bats last weekend. The Muleriders are batting .283 with a league-high 42 home runs on the season, led by Chelsea Fagan's 12 big flies. Elisa Favela is leading the team with a .338 batting average and seven doubles, as well as going 6-0 in the circle this season as the Mulerider staff owns a 2.06 ERA, striking out 183 batters in 180 innings as opponents are only hitting .200 against Mulerider pitching.

After this weekend, the Muleriders host Monticello in a midweek doubleheader before traveling to Shawnee to take on Oklahoma Baptist in a four-game series.
