Memphis, Tenn. – The SAU Men's and Women's Track and Field teams wrapped up their time in Memphis with two individuals winning their respective events and nine other individuals and four relay teams placing in the top-five in their events as the Muleriders took a deep field at the Rhodes Invitational.
Aurthur Jeffery and
Raymond Miller return to Magnolia with top honors as they won the triple jump and 110-meter hurdles, respectively. Jeffery won with a jump of 14.25 meters and Miller won with a time of 15.07 seconds.
Five individual men and two men's relay teams took home top-five finishes.
On the track,
Addison Ross placed third in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 49.86 seconds and Wes Franklin took third in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.40 seconds.
In the field, Richard Barkheimer and Gerald Pitts both finished fourth in the long jump and the shot put with Barkheimer's jump coming in at 6.28 meters and Pitts' throw going 15.05 meters.
Torrie Whetsell took third in the men's triple junp with a distance of 13.70 meters.
The men's 4x400-meter relay and 4x100 meter relay teams finished second and fourth, respectively.
The team of Shonquill Atkins,
Tyrenzo Banks,
Oluwaseun Amosun and Ross finished second in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:19.15; and the team of
Christian Mosley,
Quincy Flowers,
Austin Alexander and Atkins finished fourth in the 4x100-meter relay with a mark of 42.41 seconds.
Four women and two women's relay teams claimed top five finishes, including
Laquesta Kindle's second place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.94 seconds.
Courtney Williams and
Chassidy Jermany placed third and fifth in the triple jump, with jumps of 11.25 meters for Williams and 11.15 meters for Jermany.
Teresa Reed was the other Mulerider to get in the top five, placing fifth in the javelin with a throw of 36.55 meters.
It was the same relay teams for the women that placed as the men, with the 4x400-meter relay finishing third and the 4x100-meter relay placing fourth.
The 4x400-meter team of
Legend Harris, Kindle,
Breanna Byrd and
Chantaya Griffin ran a time of 3:57.73; and the 4x100-meter team of Byrd,
Latyana Berry,
Aniya King and
Adrianna Tillman finished with a time of 48.49 seconds.
The Muleriders are back in action next Saturday as they travel to Searcy to take part in the Harding Invitational.
