SAU Tennis back at home; hosting Newman, McKendree this weekend

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas Men's and Women's Tennis teams are back in action this weekend inside the friendly confines of the Live Oaks Tennis Courts. SAU is set to host Newman on Friday at 2 p.m. and McKendree on Saturday at 10 a.m.

It has been a highly productive spring for both SAU teams as each have reached the 12-win mark this spring, are 1-0 in Great American Conference play, and are carrying unbeaten 5-0 records at home into their aforementioned pair of matches this weekend.

The SAU Men (12-2) have won eight-consecutive matches, with their two losses coming in back-to-back days first in a slip up against Texas-Permian Basin and then to the defending NJCAA Division I National Champions in Tyler Junior College. The SAU Women (12-3) have won eight of their past nine matches with two of the defeats coming at the hands of regional competition: vs. Washburn and at No. 11 Central Oklahoma, and the other loss coming to the NJCAA Division I National Champions Tyler Junior College.

The Newman Men, of the Heartland Conference, enter with a record of 4-8, while the Newman Women enter with a 9-6 record overall. For McKendree, which represents the Great Lakes Valley Conference, the Bearcat Men are 2-2 with the Bearcat Women at 0-5.

Results of both matches for the SAU Men and Women will be made available at www.MuleriderAthletics.com.
