Clearwater, Fla. – The SAU Softball team, after a day one of the NFCA Leadoff Classic that saw them drop both matchups, came back in day two with two wins; however, the means of victory could not have been more different for the two games.
In game one, the Muleriders eked out a 1-0 win against West Georgia in which the lone run scored was a 
Sarah Evans walk-off dropped third strike wild pitch that saw pinch-runner 
Taylor Stricklin touch home plate for the game's lone run.
Victoria Taylor improved to 3-1 on the season with a complete-game shutout in which the junior pitcher only allowed two hits and two hit batters and struck out six batters. 
Rachel Miller recorded two of the Muleriders' six hits, with Evans, 
Chelsea Fagan, 
Sarah Pitre and 
Shelby Fleming all recording one hit apiece.
In game two, the Muleriders, for the second time this season, run-ruled an opponent. The Muleriders won 8-0 off the back of two home runs and a 
Sydney Wader no-hitter. The junior transfer from Louisiana-Monroe only allowed one walk and one additional runner reached due to an error, and recorded two strikeouts as Wader only threw 57 pitches over five innings.
The scoring started in the first after Evans scored because of an error following a 
Faith Otts flyout. The Muleriders added five more runs in the fourth inning due to a Fagan solo homer, a Miller walk with the bases loaded, followed by an Otts double that plated two more runs. The scoring in the fourth was finished off with Miller scoring on a wild pitch.
After an 
Elisa Favela double the next inning, 
Sarah Pitre finished the game off with a two-run home run, her first of the season.
The Muleriders improve to 4-2 on the season. They finish their time in Florida tomorrow morning with a matchup against 5
th-ranked St. Leo.
