Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – A slow start offensively coupled with a hot shooting Henderson State squad was enough to down Southern Arkansas' efforts on Thursday night inside the Duke Wells Center as the Reddies defeated the Muleriders 82-63 in Great American Conference action which snapped a four-game winning streak for SAU.

The Muleriders (16-5, 11-4 GAC) struggled from the perimeter in the loss as they made just three of 21 attempts in addition to suffering 16 turnovers. SAU was 18-of-23 from the free throw line, while the Reddies struggled from the stripe (12-of-21).

SAU shot just 29% (9-of-31) from the floor in the first half as they trailed by 18 points at the intermission. Aiding the Reddie cause in the opening twenty minutes was a floor shooting percentage of 54.8% (17-of-31) and Henderson State used a 10-0 scoring run with under three minutes to build the large halftime lead. That run came after the Muleriders managed to pull within six points courtesy of the team's lone trifecta of the half; a CJ Elkins three-pointer that cut the deficit to 26-20.

The Muleriders fought to pull within 11 points late in the second half, but the Reddies would not relinquish the lead as they built their lead back to 19.
Devante Brooks scored a team-high 14 points and added seven rebounds, while both CJ Elkins and Aaron Lucas went for ten points. Lucas recorded three assists and three steals; both team-highs and added three rebounds.

Southern Arkansas returns to the W.T. Watson Center for a Great American Conference tilt with Arkansas Tech on Saturday, February 9. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. Saturday will be SAU Basketball Alumni Day as Mulerider Athletics will recognize all past basketball alumni in attendance and will honor the 1988-89 and 1989-90 Mulerider Men's Basketball teams in recognition of their championship seasons at halftime of the men's game.
