MAGNOLIA, Ark. – In their first collegiate action on the Live Oaks Tennis Courts, the Southern Arkansas Women's Tennis team produced a strong showing in a 7-0 win over UT-Tyler on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Muleriders improve to 5-2 on the season.
In the home opener against the Patriots, Southern Arkansas took two of the three doubles matches to carry a 1-0 advantage into singles play. Junior
Aurora Novati and freshman
Simone Simas teamed up for a 6-2 win over UT-Tyler's Gerletti and Khun, while junior
Joanna Nowakowska and freshman
Angela Vargas claimed a 6-3 win over UTT's Brewer and McKissick.
Singles action saw the Lady Muleriders sweep their opponent as Novati knocked down Chloe Chawner (6-3, 6-2) and Vargas topped Anna Gerletti (7-5 (5), 7-6), while Nowakowska outmatched Lauren Khun (6-0, 6-0), Simas finished Brooke Brewer (6-1, 6-3), freshman
Lena Milosevic defeated Alexandria McKissick (6-3, 6-1), and freshman
Serena Gill handled Caitlyn Cox (6-1, 6-1).
The Lady Muleriders head to Russellville, Arkansas, on Friday, March 1 for matches with Nebraska-Kearney (11 a.m.) and Arkansas Tech (2 p.m.). Results will be made available at
