MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas Men's Tennis team performed dominantly on Tuesday afternoon in front of a lively crowd as the (RV) Muleriders put away the University of Texas at Tyler 7-0 to improve to 5-2 on the season. It was the first home match at the Live Oaks Tennis Courts for the SAU Men as an NCAA Division II program.
Sophomore
Stuart Rehfuss and junior
Aleksandr Pokusaev won 6-3 over UT-Tyler's Hidalgo and Rodriguez, while freshman
Gustavo Kerber and newcomer
Marko Nikoliuk teamed up to take down the Patriots' Cunningham and Parra 6-3. Freshman
Yuri Gondouin and semester-transfer
Alexandre Machaj defeated UTT's Apple and De La Muno 6-0 as Southern Arkansas swept the doubles competition.
In singles play, Rehfuss proved strong in a 7-5, 6-4 win over Michael Apple and freshman
Natiphat Mulada claimed victory to the tune of 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 over Daniel Rodriguez. Nikoliuk took down Gabe Hildago 6-2, 6-0, while Machaj, who played the fourth line for the Muleriders, won 6-1, 6-3 against Vini Hadlich. Gondouin was victorious over Tomas Parra 6-2, 6-2 and freshman
Raymond Marin Garcia toppled Alvar De La Muno 6-1, 6-2 to give the Muleriders a clean sweep in singles action.
The Muleriders prepare for four-straight home matches beginning first with William Jewell (9 a.m.) and Dallas Baptist (4 p.m.) both of which will be played on Saturday, March 2 at the Live Oaks Tennis Courts in Magnolia. Results will be made available at
