Arkadelphia, Ark. -Â The SAU Softball team heads into their final non-conference weekend of the season as they travel back to Arkadelphia to take part in the Alvy Early Memorial Classic hosted by Arkansas-Monticello.
Originally scheduled to take place in Bentonville, the classic was moved to a couple different locations, including Arkadeplhia, which will now host eleven teams.Â
The Muleriders are 6-2 on the season, with a 3-0 record to boast in Arkadelphia, having taken part in the Ronnie Hawkins Invitational on opening weekend. Last weekend, the Muleriders went 3-2 in Clearwater, Florida in the NFCA Leadoff Classic, dropping their first two games against #22 Valdosta State and #18 Palm Beach Atlantic before winning game three against West Georgia on a walk-off third strike wild pitch. The Muleriders offense came to life in their final two games, run-ruling both Tampa and #5 Saint Leo to close the NFCA Leadoff Classic on a three-game winning streak.Â
The Muleriders will take on in-region competition as they look to close the non-conference schedule out on a high note. The Muleriders will travel to Searcy next weekend to open up conference play against Harding, who also had a strong showing amid tough competition in Florida.Â
