Russellville, Ark. – With two weeks of the Division II Softball season complete, the Great American Conference announced their weekly awards with a familiar name in the awards.
The GAC named junior pitcher
Victoria Taylor as the conference Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week. This is the sixth time in the Greenwood native's career she has been named conference pitcher of the week.
This comes off the back of a weekend at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida in which the Muleriders went 3-2; Taylor went 2-1 with a 1.56 ERA, and only allowed eight hits and three walks while striking out 24 opposing batters.
Taylor took her first loss of the season in the opening game, a 3-0 loss to #22 Valdosta State. Taylor allowed three runs on five hits while striking out 11 in a complete game loss. Taylor bounced back for a complete game shutout victory over West Georgia, only allowing two hits, hitting two batters and striking out six.
Taylor closed the Muleriders' time in Clearwater with a one-hitter, one run victory over fifth-ranked Saint Leo. Taylor struck out seven in only four innings of work.
The Muleriders return to action this weekend to take part in the UAM Division II Softball Classic in Bentonville. The Muleriders will take on Washburn and Missouri Southern on Friday before facing Central Missouri and Pittsburg State on Saturday.
