Muleriders Come Up Short against Drury

Southern Arkansas dominates the glass; shoots over 40% from the floor in close loss

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Trailing by 17 points with just over 15 minutes remaining, Southern Arkansas began to cut into its second half deficit, but came up short as the Muleriders dropped their Friday afternoon contest against host Drury 66-58. Junior forward Devante Brooks recorded his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds and junior guard Aaron Lucas led SAU with 19 points, while redshirt freshman Trent Ivy added a career-high ten points and finished two rebounds shy of a double-double effort.

Despite the defeat, Southern Arkansas won the battle on the glass as they outrebounded the Panthers 46-28 which included grabbing ten more offensive rebounds than Drury. The Muleriders shot 40% (23-of-57) from the floor overall and 26.7% (8-of-30) from three-point range.

In the second half, the Muleriders' surge was engineered by a 50% (7-of-14) from three-point range which was part of a 55.2% success rate from the floor. Southern Arkansas outscored Drury 42-40 in the second half after trailing 26-16 at the intermission.
