Muleriders to make second Oklahoma trip of season

Magnolia, Ark. - The Muleriders go on the road to Oklahoma for the seconnd time this season to take on Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday in Shawnee before making the trip over to Bethany on Saturday to face Southern Nazarene. The Muleriders are coming off a weekend in which they snapped an 11-game losing streak with a 62-56 win over Arkansas-Monticello last Thursday. The Muleriders subsequently lost to Harding on Saturday at the W. T. Watson Center by a score of 66-46. The Bisons and the Crimson Storm faced off against each other last Thursday in a matchup that saw the Crimson Storm come out victorious 78-76. 

The Bisons, in addition to the loss to Southern Nazarene, also lost a matchup to Northwestern Oklahoma State 67-65. The Bisons are led by guard Autumn Avina, who is averaging 17.6 points per game, 5th-best in the conference. Avina, who has been named GAC Player of the Week twice this season, also has 137 assists on the season, the most in the GAC. Avina also leads the team in rebounds with 6.8 rebounds per contest. The Bison have two other players averaging double-digits in scoring, Victoria Blakenship (13.7 points per game) and Katy Custer (10.9 points per game). 

The Crimson Storm, in addition to beating Oklahoma Baptist, also gained a victory over East Central last weekend, 63-60. The Crimson Storm are led in scoring by Adrienne Berry, who is averaging 12.1 points per game, 20th overall in the GAC. Abby Niehues, averaging 10.6 points per game, is also averaging a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game. 

The Muleriders are led in scoring by Jerica Bell, who has scored 146 points this season, also averaging 9.1 points per game. Bell is also averaging 4.0 rebounds per game, third-highest on the team. Senior Alyssa Crase is coming off a 14-point, nine-rebound game against Harding, and leads the team on the glass with 5.6 rebounds per game. Crase's 2.6 offensive rebounds per game is tied for sixth-most in the conference. 

After this weekend, the Muleriders return home to host Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
