Magnolia, Ark. – The SAU Women's Basketball team, despite keeping pace with Southeastern Oklahoma after a slow first quarter that saw them fall behind 20-7, lose by a score of 75-61 in a game that saw three Muleriders score in double digits and every Mulerider get on the scoresheet.
For the fourth game running,
Jerica Bell led the Muleriders in scoring. The freshman scored 13 points on 6-9 shooting from the field and made her sole free-throw attempt. Bell also grabbed three rebounds and tossed an assist in her 18 minutes of game action.
Kylie Warren scored 12 points on 4-7 shooting, making one of her two three-point attempts and going 3-4 from the charity stripe.
The third Mulerider to score in double digits was
Lena Maledon. The Parisian scored 10 points on 4-7 shooting from the field, including 2-5 from behind the arc. Maledon also grabbed three rebounds, tossed an assist and grabbed a steal in 35 minutes on the floor.
Senior
Olivia McWilliams led the effort on the glass, grabbing six rebounds, scoring five points, dishing out two assists and grabbing a steal in 27 minutes on the floor.
As a team, the Muleriders shot 41.8 percent from the field, 42.1 percent from three-point range and 77.8 percent from the free-throw line.
The Muleriders drop to 1-13 on the season and 0-8 in conference play. They hit the road next Thursday to take on Arkansas-Monticello in their first matchup against the Cotton Blossoms this season.
