th straight match, in a Great American Conference tilt on Thursday night inside the W.T. Watson Center, the Muleriders proved to be gritty in forcing close play in the second and third sets, before suffering their tenth loss of the season.
OF NOTE
- With an 8-5 lead in the first set, Henderson State engineered a 13-2 run to take the opening frame despite hitting just .167.
- In the second set and with Southern Arkansas leading 17-16, the Reddies put together a 5-2 run to build a two-point advantage, before the Muleriders cut the deficit to one at 22-21. HSU scored the next three points on a trio of Mulerider attack errors.
- The third set saw Henderson State jump out to a 4-0 lead, before the Muleriders rallied to take a 10-8 advantage after a 5-0 run saw a kill from Powers and a pair of put aways from freshman Rylea Brimhall. The Reddies would lead 13-11, 17-16 and 22-21, before a pair of HSU kills and a service ace accounted for three of the final four points of the match.
- Kruse's second double-double of her rookie campaign came behind her third career 20-plus assist game and 10 digs. She also added three service aces, a pair of kills and a block solo.
- Powers' six kills matched Brimhall's total on Thursday night.
- Sophomore Lauren Smith added four kills and along with classmate Bailey Cagle the duo led SAU with four block assists each as the Muleriders delivered 12 block assists; the team's seventh match with ten or more block assists this season.
- Freshman libero Camryn Bihary led SAU with 14 digs and senior defensive specialist Bailey Zoss added three aces.
- The Muleriders held HSU to a .202 attack clip; thirty points less than the team's average and HSU finished well under their GAC-leading blocks per set average of 2.53 after only producing 4.0 total blocks for the entire match.

The Muleriders prepare for the SAU Tri-Match on Tuesday, September 18 beginning at 2 p.m. inside the W.T. Watson Center. Arkansas-Monticello and Williams Baptist University will join SAU in Magnolia.
