DURANT, Okla. – The Southern Arkansas Mulerider Volleyball team dropped a pair of three set matches on Saturday at the South Central Classic inside Bloomer Sullivan Arena; suffering defeats to Western State Colorado of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and #19 Central Oklahoma of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
OF NOTE | Western State Colorado (15-25, 24-26, 17-25)
- The Mountaineers hit .273 compared to SAU's .114, but only delivered three more kills than the Muleriders (36-33).
- Sophomore Morgan Gross led Southern Arkansas with nine kills, while freshman Abby Bermudez and junior Seven Powers each added five kills.
- Freshman defensive specialist Camryn Bihary produced ten digs, while rookie setters Fabiola Rivera and Lexie Kruse combined for 23 assists.
- The Muleriders led 20-11 in the second set, but would be unable to withstand a 17-4 run by WSC which closed out the set with the momentum.
OF NOTE | No. 19 Central Oklahoma (17-25, 17-25, 20-25)
- Bihary led the way with 19 digs and classmate Ciarra Wright finished three kills shy of a double-double after adding ten digs. Wright's seven kills led the team, while sophomore Lauren Smith and Gross each chipped in with six.
- SAU would get as close as two points down the stretch in the third set before UCO pulled away with final three points to end the match.
