MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Lady Mulerider softball team took game one of a best-of-three series against Minnesota Duluth at the Super Regional tournament in Magnolia on Thursday evening behind a stellar pitching performance by
Victoria Taylor and an offensive push from the bat of senior
Jill Roye that led to a 1-0 win over the Bulldogs.
Taylor went the distance for Southern Arkansas in the circle and improved to 31-0 on the year as she allowed just four hits in seven innings to claim her seventh shutout win from the bump behind six strikeouts in the contest.
Roye provided all the run support the Lady Muleriders would need in the contest as the senior went 3-for-3 with a solo dinger in the bottom of the second inning that put SAU on top to take the eventual victory at a final decision of 1-0 after SAU's defense turned a game-ending double-play that ended the Bulldog's threat in the seventh.
