The No. 4- ranked Southern Arkansas (47-5) travels to Durant this weekend for its final regular season GAC series with Southeastern Oklahoma starting with a twin-bill on Friday at 2 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday slated for a noon first-pitch.
The Lady Muleriders currently find themselves in first place in the conference standings with an impressive 36-4 record in conference action that includes six GAC series sweeps and four series wins.
For the 12th-straight week, the Lady Mulerider softball team has been one of the top-15 nationally ranked teams in the NFCA DII coaches poll, and has been tabbed in the top-5 for the past three weeks with its highest rank this season being tabbed at its current No. 4 rank.
The Lady Muleriders boasts an offense that leads the GAC in batting average (.335), on-base percentage (.426) and slugging percentage (.568), which also ranks sixth in the nation. Additionally, the SAU bats own top five marks in seven other offensive categories including runs scored, hits, RBI, walks, and home runs. The team's 88 dingers leads the league and its per game home run average of 1.69 is the second-most in the nation.
In the circle, the Lady Muleriders own the league's lowest team-ERA at 1.60 and opponent batting average at .217. As a staff, SAU has struck out 321 batters, ranking them first in the league in that category, and has allowed the fewest runs, earned runs, hits, and walks in the GAC.
Southeastern Oklahoma has been equally as impressive this season with a 31-19 overall record and a 25-12 record in GAC play that currently ranks them third in the league standings.
The Savage Storm ranks third in the Great American Conference in six offensive categories including batting average (.311), slugging percentage (.452), on-base percentage (.381), runs scored, hits, RBI, total bases, and home runs.
The Southeastern Oklahoma pitching staff, through 50 games, ranks in the top 5 in the league in team-ERA at 3.40 with 149 strikeouts along with a top 5 rank in fewest earned runs allowed, walks allowed, and opposing batting average (.293) in 341.2 innings pitched.
Defensively the Savage Storm ranks in the top 3 in the GAC in fielding percentage (.969), putouts, and chances with a fourth-best mark in fielding double plays.
