LEADING OFF
No. 7 Southern Arkansas (16-2) is set to travel to Bethany, Oklahoma this weekend for its sixth-straight weekend on the road as they will take on Southern Nazarene (6-10) in a GAC series beginning with a twin-bill on Friday scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday's doubleheader is slated for a noon first-pitch.  
    
The Lady Muleriders enter the weekend having won seven of their last eight games against conference opponents, which includes a current six-game winning streak to sit at a league-best 7-1 record in the GAC.
    
The Lady Muleriders currently hold a 13-7 series advantage over the Crimson Storm in GAC play since 2013, including five run-rule victories for SAU in that time span. 
    
Powering the hot start to the season for the Lady Muleriders is an offense that leads the GAC in batting average (.339), on-base percentage (.427) and slugging percentage (.643), which also ranks second in the nation. Additionally, the SAU bats own top five marks in nine other offensive categories including runs scored, hits, RBI, walks, and home runs. The team's 38 dingers leads the league and its per game home run average of 2.11 is the top mark in the nation.
    
In the circle, the Lady Muleriders own the league's lowest team-ERA at 1.65 and opponent batting average at .227. As a staff, SAU has struck out 102 batters, ranking them second in the league in that category, and has allowed the fewest earned runs, and the second-fewest hits, runs and walks in the GAC.
    
Southern Nazarene heads into the weekend with a 3-3 GAC record and has won its last two most-recent league matchups. The Crimson Storm owns a team slash of .258/.389/.365 and ranks sixth in the conference in RBI, runs scored, and on base percentage.
    
The Southern Nazarene pitching staff, through 16 games, holds a 4.04 team-ERA with 63 strikeouts and has allowed 75 runs in 98.2 innings pitched. Defensively, SNU ranks 11th in the GAC in fielding percentage at .942 and ranks fourth in fielding double plays (8).
