MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The 2018 Southern Arkansas Football schedule has been finalized with dates, times, opponents, and special game notations being made official by the SAU Athletic Department on Wednesday.
 
A Great American Conference-only regular season awaits the Muleriders once more in 2018 as the other 11-member schools of the GAC are on the docket come next fall. As part of their 11-game regular season slate, the Muleriders will don their road Under Armour uniforms six times, while sporting the home attire on five occasions.  
 
The Muleriders' new campaign is slated to begin at home against Arkansas Tech in a 6 p.m. Thursday night primetime showcase under the lights at Wilkins Stadium at Rip Powell Field on August 30.
 
The following two weeks will see the Muleriders take to the road for games at Harding on September 8 and at Southwestern Oklahoma on September 15. Both games are slated to start at 6 p.m.
 
September 22 will see the Muleriders return home to Wilkins Stadium at Rip Powell Field for a 6 p.m. kick-off against Northwestern Oklahoma. That game will also be SAU's annual "Family Day".
 
A week later, the Muleriders will play their first matinee game as they will travel to Shawnee, Oklahoma and play Oklahoma Baptist. That game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
 
Southern Nazarene and East Central bookend home games for the Muleriders in the month of October. SAU's game against Southern Nazarene will be on October 6 at 2 p.m., and the ECU game will take place on October 20 at 2:30 p.m. as it will serve as SAU's annual Homecoming/Hall of Fame game. Homecoming Court/King and Queen announcements will begin at 2 p.m. that day with public introduction of the 2018 SAU Sports Hall of Fame Class being made at halftime.
 
In-between the SNU and ECU games is a road game at Southeastern Oklahoma on October 13. Kick-off for that game is slated for 2 p.m.
 
Following Homecoming/Hall of Fame weekend, the Muleriders will once more play as the home team in the Murphy USA Classic, this time taking on Henderson State. Kick-off at Memorial Stadium in El Dorado is scheduled for 2 p.m. on October 27. That match-up with the Reddies will also serve as Senior Day with the 2018 Mulerider Seniors being honored prior to kick-off.
 
The final two weeks of the season will be road tests at Ouachita on November 3 and at Arkansas-Monticello on November 10. Both games will have a 1 p.m. kick-off and the UAM game will be the seventh-annual Battle of the Timberlands Trophy game.
