Leading Off
Uncooperative weather has forced another weekend series to be pushed back to Sunday-Monday, but this time a location change was forced as well as Southern Arkansas and East Central will now play their three-game GAC series at the Melissa Sports Complex in Melissa, Texas. SAU will remain the visiting team as they were originally scheduled to travel to Ada to take on the Tigers.

Heading into the series, the Muleriders are 7-4 overall and 2-1 in the GAC after a series win over Southeastern Oklahoma last weekend. East Central will come into play 1-9 overall and 0-3 in the GAC after being swept by Arkansas-Monticello opening weekend of conference play.

The Muleriders are also coming off of a lopsided 20-6 win over Henderson State in a mid-week non-conference game. ECU has lost their last eight games.

In the early season, the Muleriders are hitting .273 as a team. Senior Jake Tisevich leads the team in average at .500 (10-for-20) while classmates Jacob Richardson and Mark Fontenot lead the team in home runs (Richardson - 4) and RBIs (Fontenot - 14), respectively.

On the mound, the Muleriders have posted a 3.97 team ERA and are being led by left-hander Kenneth Tabor. The senior is 2-1 and had the lowest ERA among starters at 1.12 in 16.0 innings pitched. Redshirt freshman Tanner Vaught has been tremendous in relief with a 1.54 ERA in four appearances. Junior Eric White has registered two saves in three appearances and has a 0.00 ERA.
