Magnolia, Ark. - The SAU Men's Basketball team opens their GAC schedule this weekend with a pair of matchups against Arkansas schools, with a Thursday night opener taking place at the W. T. Watson Center against Henderson State. That will be followed with a game on Saturday as the Muleriders will travel to Searcy to take on Harding at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.

The Muleriders are coming into this weekend on the back of a five-game winning streak that has seen them win out following a season-opening loss to Augustana University.

The Muleriders, whose average margin of victory this season is 18.2 points, are coming off their first road game of the season, a 83-74 victory in Jackson, Tennessee over Union University.

The Muleriders are led by senior guard CJ Elkins, who is coming off a 23-point, 6-rebound performance against Union. The senior is currently averaging 13.5 points per game while shooting 49.1% from the floor.

Sophomore forward DeVante Brooks is coming off a game in which he came one point and one rebound short of a double-double. Brooks currently leads the teams in double-doubles, recording two this season - 14-points, 10-rebounds against Mississippi College and 10 points and 13 rebounds against Paul Quinn.

The Reddies are entering this weekend off a 21-point victory over Hannibal-LaGrange. The Reddies' only loss of the season came against aforementioned Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi by a score of 78-73.

The Bisons have won both of their games by 30 or more points, but are coming off a loss to Christian Brothers in Memphis by a score of 90-74.

Thursday will also be Domestic Violence Night, as both games that day will help raise awareness for victims of domestic violence. The event is sponsored by SAU Title IX Committee.
