Magnolia, Ark. – The SAU Men and Women's basketball teams will host Southeastern Baptist College tomorrow in a doubleheader, with the women set to play at 5:30 p.m. and the men to follow at 7:30 p.m.
The Lady Muleriders are coming off a weekend of hosting the GAC/MIAA Crossover, where the Muleriders lost both games, 64-55 to Lincoln University of Missouri and 61-40 to Lindenwood University.
Freshman guard
Ariana Guinn currently leads the team in scoring, averaging nine points a game. Redshirt sophomore
Brette Wacha and junior
Lena Maledon are both averaging seven points a game, and junior
Erin Brinkley is averaging five rebounds a game.
The Muleriders are 1-1 after their participation in the GAC/NSIC crossover in Lancaster, Texas this past weekend, which saw them drop their opener to Augustana before winning their final game of the crossover against the University of Mary.
Redshirt senior
CJ Elkins currently leads the scoring for the Muleriders, averaging 16.5 points per game, and sophomore
DeVante Brooks is averaging seven rebounds per game to go along with 10.5 points per game.
This will be the first ever meeting between the Muleriders and the Chargers of Southeastern Baptist, as the Laurel, Mississippi-based school just restarted their athletics program this fall with the introduction of men's junior varsity and varsity basketball as well as women's basketball.
