RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – For the first time in program history, both the Southern Arkansas Men's & Women's Tennis Teams opened league competition at the Great American Conference Individual Championships and in the first day of action on Saturday, both teams produced solid showings highlighted by several athletes advancing to winner bracket competition on Sunday.
Lady Muleriders

Vargas toppled Ouachita's Mallory Tabler (6-0, 6-0) and Oklahoma Baptist's Kim Moosbacher (2-6, 6-2, 10-2), while Nowakowska bounced Ouachita's Kendra Dinsmore (6-2, 6-0) and Oklahoma Baptist' Tahlia Walsh (6-1, 6-2).
The doubles team of Nowakowska and Vargas picked up a 6-2 win over OKB's Boepple/Moosbacher and will face off against Harding's Cox/Takanashi in the Doubles 1/2 Flight semifinals on Sunday.
Simone Simas was just as solid as her previously mentioned teammates as she took down Ouachita's Taylor Hansard (6-3, 6-1) and Oklahoma Baptist's Maddie Boepple (6-2, 1-6, 10-7). Simas meets Harding's Allison Carpenter at 10 a.m. on Sunday for the Flight 4 title.

Kerber beat Harding's Diego Pierola 6-4, 6-2, while Brull knocked off Ashish Komaragiri of Oklahoma Baptist: 6-0, 4-6, 10-7.
