ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Behind an impressive career-high 40 points from senior guard
Sue Key, 30 of which came in the first half, the Lady Mulerider Basketball team snapped the Reddies' 7-game winning streak with a 78-63 final decision on Saturday afternoon in Arkadelphia.
A strong first half for Southern Arkansas, fueled by Key's 30 points and Crown's 12, saw the Lady Muleriders put up 52 points as they out-shot Henderson State from the floor with a 55.56 field goal percentage (20-of-36) and a 55.56 three-point field goal percentage where Key owned all five of SAU's long range buckets.
The Reddies saw the lead just once in the game, and it was within the first two minutes of action in the first quarter, before the Lady Muleriders exploded with a 29-7 run to take a 20-point lead over HSU, 32-12, at the end of the first frame. In that sequence, Key accounted for 21 of SAU's 29 points scored which included three 3-point buckets and a 16-point scoring run in the last three minutes of action.
Leading by a 52-29 score at the intermission, SAU continued to press its offense scoring 16 additional points in the third quarter which prompted its largest lead of the game of 28 points. The Reddies used the final quarter to cut its deficit down to as low as 15 by scoring its highest total points of the entire contest and out-scoring SAU in the quarter, 18-10, but the Lady Muleriders outlasted Henderson and held the final lead, 78-63.

- Key and Crown were the offensive catalysts for the Lady Muleriders, combining over-half of SAU's 78 total points in the game with 58.
- Of those 58, the duo combined 42 in the first half
- Key registered 30 of those points in the first half including five 3-point makes and 7-of-8 makes from the charity stripe
- Key's historic career-high 40 points in the game was the most by any player in a game this season in the GAC and was also the most at SAU since Rosa Bryant on December of 2015.
- Prior to today's matchup, Henderson State was on a 7-game winning streak
- Crown's 18 total points and 10 rebounds was her 7th double-double of the season
- SAU's 78 total points was the third-most scored all season, and the second-most scored against a GAC opponent this season since Oklahoma Baptist on November 18
