HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southern Arkansas broke the scoreless tie in the third inning after putting up a pair of runs on two hits. Michael Davis doubled in the left-centerfield gap to lead things off. Josey Langston was issued a walk immediately after and Michael Page laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners to second and third.
  • With 2-outs in the inning, Trevor Rucker stroked a double to left field that plated both Davis and Langston, giving the Muleriders the aforementioned 2-0 advantage.
  • In the fourth, the Reddies cut their 2-run deficit in half and loaded the bases on a walk, hit batter, and a single that eventually led to a bases-loaded walk accounting for HSU's lone run in that inning.
  • The Reddies tied the game in the fifth inning after a solo homerun evened the score at 2-all.
  • In the next inning, Henderson State took the lead on another solo homer that resulted in a 3-2 score heading into the seventh.
  • A lead-off single off the bat of Jake Tisevich placed the tying run on-base for SAU as Sam Mrstik drove in that run with an RBI triple to right-centerfield. With Mrstik still on third base, Davis hit a deep fly-ball to right field that plated the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly, 4-3 SAU.
  • The Reddies scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to regain the lead and ultimately win the game with a 6-4 final score.

ON THE MOUND
  • SAU's closing pitcher, Jacob Stroder suffered the loss on the mound after giving up three runs on three hits in 1.1 innings.
  • Pitching changed hands three other times for SAU with starter, George Eubanks giving up a run and Hunter Vasquez giving up a pair in 2.2 innings pitched.
