HOW IT HAPPENED- GAME 2
  • Arkansas Tech jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning after a pair of lead-off singles placed two on base. On the next batted ball, a fielding error advanced the runners one base and ATU's aggressive attempt to score a run on the throw to the plate resulted in an out as SAU's Duran fired the throw to the catcher, Tyler Casada, to hose the runner at the plate.
  • In that same frame, a pair of runs were plated on a pair of back-to-back singles from the ATU offense.
  • SAU retaliated in the bottom of the frame as they plated three runs on four hits to take the lead 3-2.
  • Goad and Dow led off that inning with a pair of singles before a walk issued to Roye loaded the bases. Goad scored the first run on a wild pitch. Casada proceeded to put a ball in play that tied the game at 2-all as Dow scored on the play from third. Megan Godoyo followed with an RBI single to right field on the first pitch she saw that plated the go-ahead run, 3-2 SAU.
  • In the fourth inning, SAU struck again as Dow laced an 0-1 pitch to center field that allowed Islava to successfully score from third after she previously led-off the frame with a single through the right side of the field.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Muleriders plated a pair of runs on three hits that gave them the 6-2 cushion over Tech. Casada pulled a 1-2 pitch down the left field line before Godoyo scored her with an RBI single up the middle. Subsequently, Islava banged an RBI double in the left-center field gap that allowed Godoyo to score from first base.
  • The final runs for SAU came in the sixth inning as they answered with three more on three hits in the frame. Goad set the tone in the inning with a lead-off double to right field followed by a 4-pitch walk to Dow. A pitching change for ATU and a walk later to Duran loaded the bases for the Lady Muleriders as Casada stroked a single back up the middle that plated a pair of runs. Islava came to the plate with two outs and singled up the middle to plate the third run of the inning resulting in a 9-2 final score.
