Lady Muleriders handled by #21 Arkansas Tech on the road

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Three Lady Muleriders scored in double figures on Thursday evening inside Tucker Coliseum, but #21 Arkansas Tech used strong outings in the second and fourth quarters to handle Southern Arkansas, 83-40, in a Great American Conference affair that saw the Golden Suns clinch a league tournament berth.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Golden Suns led 26-13 after the first quarter and manufactured a dominate second ten minutes of action as the nation's 21st-ranked team increased their lead to 46-20 at the halftime break behind 57% (17-of-30) shooting from the field.
  • The Lady Muleriders converted just seven shots from the floor in the first half on twenty-seven attempts and were 6-of-12 from the free throw line.
  • Southern Arkansas outscored Tech in the third quarter, 15-14, as the Lady Muleriders received five points each from Erin Brinkley and Makaila Jordan.
  • Arkansas Tech's largest lead was 44 points as they used a 23-5 fourth quarter to claim the victory.
 
FOR SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
  • Jordan led Southern Arkansas with 11 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the free throw line and added five rebounds, while Kimberly Crown and Brinkley each contributed with ten points.
  • Crown grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and added two assists, two blocks and a pair of steals.
 
FOR THE OPPOSITION
  • Five Tech players scored in double figures led by Anissa Pounds' 17 points. Calli White followed with 13 points and Brianna Williams added a dozen points. Danielle Frachiseur contributed with 11 points and Kylie Ladd scored 10 points to round out double figure scoring.
  • Frachiseur delivered with a team-high nine rebounds, while Pounds and White added seven rebounds each.
  • White led ATU with five assists and Ladd followed with three assists and three steals, while Frachiseur collected three steals as well.
 
OF NOTE
  • The contest did not feature a lead change as the Golden Suns led for 39:25 with the game being tied for just 35 seconds.
  • Tech out-rebounded SAU, 46-32, and outscored the Lady Muleriders in points in the paint (32-16), and points off of turnovers (22-9).
  • Arkansas Tech shot 52% from the field, and made 43% of their three-point attempts, while Southern Arkansas was unsuccessful in a dozen three-point tries.
  • ATU scored 43 points in the second and fourth quarters combined and allowed just 12 combined points from Southern Arkansas.
