HOW IT HAPPENED
  • SAU jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead and held a peak lead of six points with 17:11 remaining in the first half, but Arkansas Tech then went on a 9-2 run to take their first lead of the game, 14-13, with 14:34 showing on the clock. Bookmarking that run were two of nine first-half trifectas by the Wonder Boys with both of those makes coming from Freddy Lee.
  • The Muleriders were able to briefly knot the game at 17-all, but split free throw attempts and another three-pointer by ATU's Lee kept the Wonder Boys in the lead; a position they would not relinquish the remainder of the game.
  • Trailing by 17 at the break, the Muleriders scored the first four points of the second half to cut the deficit to 13, but Arkansas Tech went on an 11-0 run from there to push their lead out to the 20s, a margin that remained the rest of the game.
  • Nine of those 11 points during the game-defining run came from long range as the Wonder Boys knocked down a trio of three-pointers. Tech would only make one more three pointer in the half, but the early sharpshooting was too much to overcome for the Muleriders.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • De'Sean Dockery finished as the Muleriders' leading scorer for the second-straight game as he scored 19 points. In those two games, he has elevated his scoring average more than a point per game.
  • Nine of Dockery's points came from beyond the arc as he made three three-pointers. It was the first game in his time as a Mulerider that Dockery had made multiple three-point shots.
  • As a team, the Muleriders shot 76% from the free throw line (16-of-21). They have now shot 70% or better as a team from the charity stripe in three-straight games.
