- Fort Hays came back to tie the game at 1-all in the bottom of the fifth. A lead-off hit-by-pitch put Jeni Mohr on base to start that inning. Following a sacrifice bunt from Ashley Beavers that safely advanced Mohr to second, Bailey Kennedy singled to plate Mohr.
- The score remained tied through the next three innings to send the game into extras before the SAU bats awoke in the top of the ninth. Â Â Â Â
- Brooke Goad broke the tie with a 2-run blast to left-centerfield that plated Yulissa Hinojosa who previously drew a walk.
- In that same inning, Maddie Dow reached base on a hit before she was batted in by a 2-out single from Monica Islava. The last of SAU's runs came on another single off the bat of Megan Godoyo that plated Jill Roye that gave the Lady Muleriders a fairly comfortable lead going into the bottom of the ninth.
- The Tiger offense couldn't rally back as they stranded one runner on base in the ninth to close out the game with a 5-1 victory for Southern Arkansas.
